10/5 ANC updates: Community Center, Library, OurRFP, Parking, Schools, democracy, and more!

Good Neighbors one and all,

There's a good amount of important items so please read through.

-ANC 3/4G meets next on Oct. 23 at 7pm. Check our website for updates.

-DMPED and LINK have scheduled the OurRFP to solicit community feedback about the redevelopment of the community center and library. They need to hear from you. Please attend and tell your neighbors. This is the Eventbrite for the October 14th Community Meeting.

Those meetings will take place Saturday, October 14, 2023 commencing at 12 noon and Wednesday, October 18, 2023 commencing at 6 pm. Both meetings will occur at the Chevy Chase Presbyterian Church, which is located at One Chevy Chase Circle, NW, Washington, DC 20015. Link Strategic Partners will be conducting the OurRFP meetings on behalf of the District.

-The ANC survey committee is nearing the end of their survey design and is testing it now. Please look out for more details soon.

-The ANC passed a resolution on the Civic Core at the end of July. The city agency responses can be found here

-DDOT is considering green infrastructure that may impact your parking. I've attached a document with more details.

The ANC received a Notice of Intent (NOI) of removal of parking in Single Member Districts 03, 04, 05, 06, and 07 because the City is proposing to install green infrastructure to meet Environmental Protection Agency requirements. The project is aimed to improve water quality in the District’s waterways and provide other benefits like traffic calming, reduction in urban heat island effect, and the addition of green space. The NOI was uploaded for public review here: https://ddotwiki.atlassian.net/wiki/spaces/NI/overview  on September 7, 2023. The comment period is open until October 20, 2023.  All comments and feedback can be sent to eric.schwartz@dc.gov or Morvarid Ganjalizadeh at morvarid.ganjalizadeh@dc.gov.

-The next Ward 3 EdNet meeting is on October 17 at 7pm via Zoom. It will focus on the District's Boundary and Student Assignment Process (https://dme.dc.gov/boundaries2023). Guests -- Jen Comey and Rebecca Lee from the Deputy Mayor for Education's office, as well as Anna Johnson, who is a Ward 3 parent on the advisory committee will be there to discuss. You can register for the meeting using this link.
