2/17 Commissioner Update
Hello Good People!
A lot is going on in ANC 3/4G...
1) The Chevy Chase Civic Core survey from DMPED is out. Please complete it and help guide the future of the community center and library. The zoning, design, and development committee of the ANC is also working hard to understand all the issues pertaining to the civic core, as well as helping communicate those to the community. Stay tuned for more.
2) ANC 3/4G meets on the second and fourth Monday of each month, we will meet again on the 27th. Please join us!
3) The ANC passed a resolution requesting the National Park Service and Mayor stop the evictions at McPherson Square until each person was able to find proper housing. I'm proud my colleagues voted for this resolution. We were joined by over 90 commissioners across the city and several council members in a similar call for a more just and ethical plan that puts people first. Those commissioners, the service providers who work with our most vulnerable neighbors each day, and all those who sought a better way is what makes me proud to be a Washingtonian. I hope we never get accustomed to treating our neighbors with such cruelty. If you would like to work on issues of homelessness in our ANC and in the city, please reach out.
4) Feed the Family offers supplies and food to folks in need. It would be great to start a drive from our ANC to help Feed the Family get the supplies they need to help. If you are interested in this effort, please let me know.
5) If you are around Starbucks on Connecticut Ave. and the StreetSense paper is being sold, help them out. The small cost of the paper, $1, helps the homeless salespeople support themselves and you'll get a new perspective of the city.
6) Washington DC's autonomy is being targeted. Without DC Statehood, Congress may pass legislation that reverses the will of you and those you elected. The House has attempted just that, and they won't stop. See what DC Attorney General Brain Schwalb wrote in response. ANC commissioners across the city also requested a renewed push for DC Statehood. Please join us in advocating for the 51st State. Check out just some of the Statehood organizations doing that work...

7) In lighter news, sign up for area updates with former commissioner Jerry Malitz's Chevy Chase News. That's where I found out about Art Sound Lounge coming to Ct. Ave with a grand opening event tomorrow from from 3-6pm. Read more here. Here's to rock and roll, rhythm, blues, and a community that can't lose.
